I Am A "Darrenatic"

Well, I am so excited about the turnout of the grand finals for the new reality show "The Voice Kids" in the Philippines. I mean, I was watching this show ever since it started last June and I was so hooked to the kids belting out songs beyond their ages. It was really addicting to watch them.

When I was small I used to watched singing shows on TV. I was an avid audience of the long time show "Ang Bagong Kampeon" held every Friday night. I remember, we don't have TV yet that time and I was just watching it at my uncle's house every eight-o'clock at night. I watched it for a very long time and I had overgrown it actually until it finally died down in the 90's. The show had produced some of the country's famous singers like Regine Velasquez, Geneva Cruz, Donna Yrastorza, and Josephine "Banig" Roberto (who was famous in the international circle)as well as the members of the group "Smokey Mountain" (which popularized the song "Paraiso") which had raked a lot of international awards. Those were the days.

At present, shows like "The Voice Kids" Philippine version was a hit and had generated a lot of buzz in the news mainstream. Even the veteran composer Ryan Cayabyab had commented about the singers and praised the show for developing young talents who had the potential to be future stars and singers. I also agreed with him personally.

The contestants were so good at singing out their songs and had probably made the voters and audiences confused on who's to vote and select to be the grand champion (the ever first one). They all deserved to be in the grand finals and it seems that it was an amazing show.

I was at the clinical site today when I intermittently checked YouTube on my iPhone about the grand finale show because it was held in advance (for about 12 hours) because of the different time zones between the Philippines and Los Angeles. I never blinked my eyes watching the footages on my hidden phone. I was just thankful that someone had uploaded the bits of the show on YouTube.

What really mesmerized me was the performance of a Calgary-born 12-year-old boy who belted out the classic ballad by Basil Valdez "Ngayon" as his coronation song. It was a very sincere and soulful song that I have heard as if he was telling the youths of today that in order to have a change it has to be done right now and by starting it themselves alone. It was a very touching and heart rending performance. The child was extremely very talented and had delivered the song with great clarity and emotions.

In my observation and humble opinion, he has the chops to be the champion because of his profesionalism and readiness to exude the charms of a winner. He was my first bet to win this new singing contest and the ultimate primordial first winner of this newly opened reality singing show for the kids in the Philippines.

What really struck me was his inside humility and outright generosity. There were rumored interviews (I haven't seen the news yet) that if he wins the contest he will donate the money to charity (at the church in his province) and he will give the house and lot to his fellow contestant who is poor, wherein he had developed a filial relationship because they belong to the same coach and team. That gracious act alone had won me over to decide that he is the "champion of champions." Championing humility and charitableness was a class act!

I don't know what will happen tomorrow but I hope he will win the contest and claim the title as the ultimate first winner of the show. I even told my sister in the Philippines to cast my votes for him because I desperately wanted him to win. Hopefully, my votes will him him propel to the top, at the least.

Despite he was a Canadian born Filipino boy he speaks fluent Tagalog which really had amazed me. He also had a history of winning singing contest in Canada which eventually had helped him improve his singing prowess and had made him ripe enough to be an entertainer hence he was dubbed in the show as a "total performer" with gifted talents and good looks. But despite of all these praises and positive labeling he had remained grounded and humble. He never showed over confidence, complacency, laxity, boredom, and gross behavior and attitude during the entirety of the show. He was totally very professional and candid.

Whatever happens tomorrow, I hope he will win the contest and I can't be happier about that. I hope he will claim the top prize, grace some famous shows, and will show more singing in the future. I wish you good luck, my ultimate bet, Mr. Darren Espanto for being the first grand champion (premeditated proclamation) of "The Voice Kids" Philippines. Thank you for sharing your talent to us and for being a proud Filipino. Good luck to you my favorite singer. Have a nice day!

*****

Well apparently this morning I opened my Facebook and the early turnout of the last show came out. Lica Gairanod, a 9-year-old girl, won the contest. Darren Espanto, my bet, just came in second. Lica garnered the most votes among the online and cell phone voters. I felt sad about Darren but oh well there should be a winner and a runner-up. Congratulations to Team Sarah for bagging the first and second prize. Congratultions to Lica and Darren. I'll gonna miss Darren though. Good luck to you idol!

8 Ways To Say Congratulations

Yes we always have joyous moments where in we always greet people about the triumphs and successes that they have done and achieved. It's our way of appreciating their efforts and letting them bask for the glory that they received. Here are some eight ways to just do that:

1. Congratulations! - Joyful times go hand in hand with congratulations. When addressing graduates, newlyweds, or anyone with good news, a hearty "Congratulations!" is in order. Congratulants, people who congratulate, have been using this pluralized expression, which stems from the Latin gratus meaning "pleasing," since the 17th century. The singular noun meaning "the act of congratulating" has been around since the late 16th century.

2. Felicitations! - If you want to stand out from the crowd of people offering their congratulations, try roaring "Felicitations!" This less common expression of congratulations comes from the Late Latin felicitate meaning "to make you happy." English speakers have been using the singular form of this term since the early 1700s.

3. Hip, hip, hurrah! - for some Victorian flair, opt for the every-cheery hip, hip, hurrah! This expression of uncertain origin surfaced in the 1800s though the exclamation hip had been used since the mid-1700s. Hip repeated three times was used as a noun in the 1800s to refer to a collective cheer. in an 1857 book called Glasgow and Its Clubs, the author discusses "the loud roar of harmonious 'hip, hip, hips.'" But let's not forget about hurrah. This exclamation dates from the late 1600s and is very similar to shouts in German, Danish, and Swedish. Hurrah might have started off as a battle cry before it spread into general usage.

4. Three cheers! - just as hips come in threes, so do cheers. Three cheers is generally followed by "for" and the name of the person of thing being celebrated. A person being cheersed might also respond to a toast of three cheers with the word cheers, which especially in the UK, can mean "thanks." the term cheer entered English in the late 12th or early 13th century, and ultimately comes from the Greek kara meaning "head."

5. Kudos! - though it sounds colloquial, kudos finds its roots in the hallowed halls of academic institutions. At the turn of the 19th century, academics transliterated the Greek kydos, meaning "praise or renown." By the 1920s, kudos had spread beyond the walls of universities and into the columns of newspapaers. Don't be fooled by the s at the end of kudos; it is, in fact, a singular noun. However, enough English speakers have erroneously interpreted this s as a plural inflection that in the late 1940s, the back formation singular kudo arose. Grammar sticklers avoid using kudo as a singular and kudos as a plural, however, these both can be found in popular usage.

6. Props! - When congratulations are in order, the term props might come up. This slang shortening of proper arose in the 1990s and refers to respect and esteem. In addition to giving and receiving props as recognition, you can do someone a prop to help him or her out. In 1995 film Clueless, Cher notices that Josh is dancing with Tai, despite the fact that he never dances, to make her feel included. Cher explains: "He's doing her a prop so she won't feel left out."

7. Hats off! -the phrase hats off, while often said to graduates wearing the illustrious cap and gown, has nothing to do with the tradition of tossing hats in the air in celebration. This phrase harks back to the custom of uncovering the head, or doffing the hat, as a sign of respect. Etiquette expert Emily Post advised gentlemen on many situations in which they must remove hats to maintain politeness. in 1922 she wrote: "A gentleman takes off his hat and holds it in his hand when a lady enters the elevator...." He also lifts his hat whenever he asks a question or says "excuse me."

8. Mazel tov! - this expression of congratulations and best wishes comes form the Hebrew term literally meaning "good luck." Though many reserve the English good luck for before a big event, it's appropriate to shout mazel tov! at any point during a celebration. The spelling mazel tov entered English in the 1860s, though it appeared in the 1600s spelled as missal tob. Whatever transliteration you prefer, the term has been lovingly, said ever since.

Though all of these greetings were being defined greatly here, I am only basically familiar to six of them and it's good to know there were several terms about it, so now I can put them to good use every time there is an appropriate occasion and opportunity to put them into a meaningful usage. Props to Dictionary.com. Thanks!

Looming Excitement

Yeah, I am so pumped up right now because I am very excited about so many things lately. A lot of things have had happened lately and I am very grateful about the seemingly promising trends that had been occurring. Thank you Lord for every thing.

I am very happy because right now I am in school teaching my favorite subject Pediatrics with Batch 45. This caused me extreme joy because I've been a Pediatric Nurse for a long time and teaching this very intricate and advanced field of nursing is music to my ears and a piece of cake. I was very ecstatic!

Added to that, the students were very interacting and attentive for the lecture. They were very eager to learn about the specialized field and I have guided them well during the lecture on what they want to learn. It was a very rewarding experience indeed. I am glad all of them passed the class with flying colors.

Another thing that made me happy was about my running. Right now, I can basically run for one hour without any huffs and puffs, which is actually good. Before, I always have a trouble running a mile but now I can do at least three to four miles in one hour without even getting tired. I mean, I got sore but not really tired. There's a big difference about that.

My stamina and endurance were on their heights and I am so happy that I was able to sustain it for one hour. Time will come I can increase the distance in one hour and hopefully I can do it in increments so that I will feel very strong when I ran. In time, I can be a seasoned runner which is my ultimate goal. Crossing my fingers to that.

I am also happy because I am building muscles especially on my thighs and calf and also appeared very lean as well as losing weights. This is a progress for me after exercising for the past six months now. The result was so surprising and drastic as well. I didn't expect it to be like that. One of these days I can post a picture of my new self. Hehehe.

Another thing that had made me so excited is my oncoming vacation to France this coming October. I decided to make this vacation to visit my best friend and I can't wait to see her, after a few years, let's say five years. It's been a long time that we haven't seen each other.

France always had etched a lot of unforgettable memories in my heart. The beautiful places and sceneries were very spectacular. The friends that I have met there were very welcoming and warm. I just can't set them aside because I always fill myself with memories from them. That is why I am so much attached to every body. Blame it on my nostalgic side.

But what I mean, who else can't love France and the French? It's a beautiful country with charming people in it. For me, I always treasure all my moments there and at the same time learned from the experiences that I had there, be it good or bad. Life is always like that I believe.

See you in three months guys!

End Part Of The 2014 FIFA Games

I got home at almost noon today after I got out of my Saturday clinical rotation at Norwalk Community Hospital. I was sore from my exercise the previous days and I felt so uninterested earlier but it's okay despite I felt like trash. I am so tired and I almost had a heart attack. Hehehe.

The weather was so hot at 80's, yes because it's Summer and it added another anxious day for me because of the very uncomfortable heat that almost penetrated my brain and fried it. No wonder I felt like so sweaty, filtry, and trashy today. It's not a very nice day but I had survived it. I got home super tired which had rendered me soporific when I sat down at the couch watching the World Cup soccer match between Brazil and Netherland.

What a trashy game as well. I mean it was the redemption day for Brazil to acclimate themselves for the big fiasco between Germany but it seems that they don't live to the expectations of the fans. They lost against Netherlands with a very forgettable match today. Too bad they didn't won at least the third placer which was snagged from them by Netherlands easily. What a shame for the FIFA World Cup host. Even the Brazilians were dismayed, disgusted, ashamed, and dismantled of their national pride. At least they put on a big show for being the hospitable host of the games.

Kinda ironic for the Brazilians but there should be a winner and that's between the Germans and the Argentinians where the game will be played tomorrow morning. I am not really a huge fan of soccer but I kind of watched the last weeks where the best teams played with each other. It was a marathon to watch people going back and forth of the big green field and I got tired of watching them doing it, much more than them running through it.

******
Today is Sunday and I am back again finishing this blog after watching the finals of the FIFA World Cup Game sin Brazil. I intentionally left my blog last night open because I was planning to finish it off tonight with the final result of the games today.

Likewise I showed up at the clinicals again crappy because of my fatigue and soreness from the exercise I had two days ago. I thibnk my body was still recuperating and growing muscle because I took some protein supplements as well to make it grow. I guess two days is enough for it to recuperate then tomorrow I will go back to the gym and exercise again to recruit more muscles. Hope this ones will work.

Going back to my day today, it was still hot outside and it kind of affected my performance in the clinicals today. We ended up not working on the floor because the nurses at the north side of the hospital was kind of not really giving the students their fair share of doing some nursing bedside care. But oh well, I got to review the students for the maternity finals tomorrow and they were very appreciative that I helped them understand the chapter in a matter of four hours. I tried my best to make them understand the loopholes of maternity and also answering NCLEX questions. It all worked out so far, thank God.

I went home very tired and again had slumped at the coach trying to keep my eyes open for the soccer finals. It seems that the stadium was full of audiences feeling lucky to be there to watch the games between Argentina and Germany. First up, the game was so heated up and the players were so pumped up tossing the ball back and forth the big green manicured field. It was a very tiring game to watch an dthe score was been zero halfway time until the game closed where they have to play overtime where Klose from Germany scored inching the Germans to gain a point to win the coveted gold trophy. The Germans had prevailed to be the 2014 FIFA World Cup champs! It was mayhem in Rio de Janiero and of course in Berlin.

Congratulations to Germany for winning the 2014 World Cup Championship sponsored by FIFA. You put on a good teamwork and a good play. No wonder why your team won. I could not forget this experience despite I watched it from my couch for it only happens every four years. It was a very intense game despite of the slow 90 minutes of the game. Again, kudos for the job well done Deutschland!

Trouble Is

I am still here at Country Villa North Healthcare but with the change of administrator and DON, trouble was been looming in all four corners. A lot of people were affected and people were been tired, fatigued, and overworked. I don't know what else does the administration wanted us to do. It's just getting worse and out of hand. You know what I mean? It is so unreal! I was just holding on. I don't care what will happen anyway because I still have my teaching job.

Well, anyways trouble is always everywhere. Whether it is sunny or cold, I still have to think that the world is round and that there is always something uncool that will happen. Some people justcan't sit down but wreck havoc to mankind. (Sly smirk!) It's always like that and it's inevitable. All we need to do is to be cautious and that things should be considered seriously. Caution is the best thing to get out of trouble and that we need to measure up al the time with what is happening around us. Pretty much a reminder but it's the fact.

Speaking about facts? Well, we have to gather some first before reacting. It's too immature to face the high ups with your rage and not even getting more informations before hand. It is just not cool to do it. Always be equipped first before dancing the music so that you'll be fully grounded and prepared of what you will say and do. It had happened to me in the past and I have learned from my so hurried mistakes. Hopefully, you will get what I mean.

Here at work a lot of people were been fired or either forcefully resigned because of the new administrator who has an irritatingly poor judgment when it comes to making critical decisions. Speaking of critical... as if she doesn't have critical thinking. An administrator at that. She should have been respected of a very vital decisions but not. She was very impulsive and does not have a knowledge of her own. I just pity those people who got smashed by her out-of-the-blue decisons which angered most of her cohorts as well as the staff. I don't know if she still gets it but it seems that she was very into herself, feeling to be domineering and angelic with a classical tones. But oh well she is not to me.

Honestly, I never been in a remote area. Having to experience it might have been fulfilling. But oh well, again no synpathy and guts to ready themselves for the day. I learn it as one generation to generation must pass it on. Trouble is..... trouble is always looming around to pounce the weak and strike it's paw to someone very fanatic about the game. It's just a mind game but technically it titillate others to get competitive. That's where trouble is being found.

The sense of adventure is also a platform that trouble had run its course. Nobody wanted to end up in a tragic mishap but perhaps it is inevitable. Life has to go on though and that trouble is always married to us. No matter what the agreement and the expected goals still trouble will come with you. It's just that trouble had laready enveloped you but you didn't notice. It's pretty much unbelievable you know. But oh well..... it's treating me so well lately.

Suitcase Reflections

Yeah, I am at work right now but it seems that I am not 100% focused today. I'm not stressed out but I think I needed another vacation. Damn! I just had one last May and still thinking of going to another long vacation or maybe a short one will do. That's how stress was burning me out lately, I guess. Very intriguing huh?

Though short of funds I'm still planning for another getaway and this soon will be realized in three months time. I am planning to go back to south France in October for just a short ten days to celebrate my birthday with my college best friend whom I missed so much. She is also missing me and had some health issues that we're trying to brush off because I don't want her to worry so much but always thinks positive and happy so that she will live longer and enjoy life better. I can't wait to see her!

I consider myself a traveller and I love it. I've been travelling to a lot of places and it seems that I enjoyed it very much. I am an adventurous person and I always learned a lot from my ventures and travels. It makes me a very seasoned man and traveller. My experiences had molded me so much to observe different cultures and mingled with them through observation without any biases. It made me gained a lot of friends whom I always cherished and connected with even though we're apart and miles away. It had fascinated me so much that I really don't care if I go broke or not. Hahaha.

I am stubborn in the right reason and I always know my limitations. I tried to always avoid having put myself into danger. I know that adventures always put someone into danger but with careful planning and caution this will be prevented and spared. Thus all of my travels were always safe and full of rich experiences that I always treasure. No money can ever exchange or buy my experiences in all of my travels. I am just fortunate to have done it. I guess, my life is already complete having traveled to many places. I can assure myself that I am complete now.

I am a person who doesn't succumb to gullibility. I am just contented with what I have. I don't ask for more. I am just contented for what I have now and never in my life succumb for an excess. I am not power hungry either. All I just wanted in life is to nurture myself everyday with very meaningful experiences that's why I always consider each day as a learning process. I am a quick learner and I am always hungry for knowledge. That's all I am and nothing less!

In all my travels I always tried to learn before I peruse the place. It gave me knowledge about history, politics, economics, geography, arts, and culture. The richness of history that abounds each place I went were very intoxicating that I always yearn for more travels and adventures. I've been to century old country like France, Italy, and Mexico and I am so eager to learn about the bountiness of their past and how they thrive to be a very powerful and affluent country. It keeps intriguing my knowledge hungry self and I don't stop just there but keep enriching myself with knowledge I've read from books and online facts like Wikipedias.

Travelling is fun and I always make sure that I get out the most of it. I always blog all of my journeys despite that I have no time for it but I always make sure everything were been documented well. I love to write and all were been tabulated and written exactly as what happened. I am just proud of myself reliving all of the experiences. It will serve it's purpose of reminding me what had happened when I am old and had no more remote memory. I know it will.

Having travelled to a lot of places was very enriching and nurturing . I like the beauty, romance, and art infused atmosphere of Paris, the Renaissance atmosphere of cities Tuscany, the golden promise of Genoa and Turin, the pristine ambiance of Pisa and Florence, the rich arts of Milan, the sunkissed beaches of South France, the serenity of Aix-en-Provence, the medieval buildings of Brussels and it's tasty chocolates, the amiable people of Santo Domingo, the ancient past of Mexico City, the magical existence of the Mayan and Aztec ruins, the torqouise waters of the beaches in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum, the puzzling rise of the Chichen Itza, Palengke, El Tajin, Coba, Ek-Balam, and Tulum pyramids, the intriguing indigenous people of San Cristobal, the beauty of the Canyon de Sumidero, the remoteness of the Agua del Azul, the century old cypress tree in Oaxaca, the green ambiance of the city of Oaxaca, the hilly ride at Taxco and Guanajuato, the colorful boxed houses on the hills of Guanajuato and the white washed house in the hills of Taxco, the serenity of rural San Miguel de Allende, the industrial and modern ambiance of Queretaro, the magical statues of Tula, the busy streets of Pachuca de Soto, the cool mountainside of Xicotepec, the intricate and colorful Buddhist's temples of Bangkok, the crowded streets of Hongkong, the revelation of Disneyland in Hongkong, the industrial and historical ambiance of Singapore, the variety and richness of the Philippines Island, and others that I have already forgotten. They were very enriching indeed!

It was a very good feeling having to reminisce all this places that I have been. Can't complain for more. It will be a fortunate situation if I can see more places to add for my rather not so extensive travels but I am okay with what I did. Hopefully more travels in the future and a more promising years ahead.

Random Thoughts

Today is July 4th.... "Happy Birthday America!" Too bad I am working. Can't see the fireworks and enjoy the humidity all around Los Angeles. I am not gonna be enjoying the spectacular firework shows at the Hollywood Bowl, the Long Beach Harbor, and the Redondo Beach. I am so bummed out. But anyways, having to work on this holiday has a plus also. I got to be paid double time..... hehehe.

I went to school today to do some of my requirements, clinical grades, and lesson plans. I am also submitting some of the attendance sheets that the students had been signing these past weeks. Despite it was close, I am lucky I had the leys to open it and do all the paperworks I needed to submit. Now, I am immune to audits after a while that the secretary had been bugging me to submit.

Now that survey time from ABHES for school's accreditation is looming around, it is time again to update al my credentials and helathrequirements. Quite a hassle but it is essential to comply withit to maintain my position and credibility at school. It's really time consuming but worth it. Always have to do it annually, and I should have been used to it already.

After the stunning lost of my favorite team Mexico aka El Tri from the current Worls Cup held in Brazil last week I lost interest in watching and threading it. I guess the referee were to harsh to penalized Marquez with the dive the Robben had done on the last 90 minutes of the game which gave the Dutch team a 2 point score on the last minute overtaking El tri by on epoint.

It was a crazy game and I think Mexico was been robbed. They played well for the first and second half with a one goal that put them on the lead (courtesy of Dos Santos), but it must be some Divine intervention that they have to lose after Robben was awarded a penalty for diving when Marquez was challenging him with the ball. I thought diving in soccer is an offense. The referees were really underestimating Mexico thus led to their upsetting loss. Haist.

But I'm still glad El tri went through the best 16. It's just ironic that they got robbed and not play in the best o f8. But anyways, they're still my best team, including France, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Go football!

******

However today, more frustrations for me today. France lost against Germany and Colombia lost against Brazil with a very exciting game until the end leaving Neymar injured with a back injury and having Rodriguez awarded the most goals of the cup after scoring a goal for Colombia on the fifty-ninth minutes of the game.

It was pretty must a very upsetting soccer day for me today having my favorite teams dismantled and booted out for the quarterfinals with only Costa Rica left as my last hope playing with Netherlands tomorrow. The "Ticos" were just worried about Robben's diving so Coach Pinto had voiced it out during the press con held today in Rio de Janiero. Hopefully, the referees will be more aware of this worries and will be more just and fair with their decisions tomorrow. We'll see! Go "Ticos"! Go! Go! Go!

******

I will be covering the group in El Monte tomorrow for the clinical rotation to cover for Mrs. Adriana who requested for a vacation. I am excited to teach them about newborns and delivery. I've been in El Monte before and I can't wait to share to them my expertise in the field. ER was also nice for them to gain experience there and I am very eager to give them an unforgettable two day clinical experience. Fingers crossed!
